Viewing Zombie Processes that Persist on the System


This task displays information about the zombie processes that persist on the system. PATROL identifies a zombie process as an ended process whose entry remains in the process table but is not assigned to a user or kernel space and does not consume any other resources. Processes in this state are also referred to as defunct processes.

To View zombie Processes

  1. Access the NUK_Process_Container application menu.
  2. Select List Zombie Processes. BMC PATROL writes the information to a BMC PATROL task object, List Zombie Processes, in the NUK_Linux_OS container.
  3. Access the List Zombie Processes task object and view the results. Your results should resemble this example:
