Downloading the repository
You can download the latest version of the KM by downloading a single KM installation file or by downloading the latest version of the Infrastructure Management-PATROL Repository. Use your preferred method of obtaining the installation files by completing one of the following procedures:
To download the PATROL for Linux installation files
Select and download the installation files for your platform; see the following table. Use your BMC Support credentials to access the EPD website. You might also be prompted to complete the Export Compliance Form.

To download the repository files
The Repository consists of two files, the base and extended repositories. You must download these files from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website.
Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.
- At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
- On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, accept the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
- If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
- Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose. Use the Profile list to select a different profile.
From the Component View (the default view), in the Filter Products text box under Products, type Infrastructure Management PATROL Repository and press Enter, or click Go.
For information about the license entitlements and component products related to TrueSight Infrastructure Management, see TrueSight Operations Management License Entitlements 11.0.- From the list of products displayed on the right side, click the appropriate product license.
- In the pop-up window, select the Version (default selection is the latest GA version), the Platform (if applicable), and click Go.
Click one of the following tabs, and select the check boxes next to the files and documents to download:
- Products—Displays the product files and supplementary related files available for download, including service pack files.
- Patches—Displays the patch files available for download.
- License Information—Displays the files related to licenses.
- Documentation—Displays the Online Technical Documentation links and the offline zip files of the documentation available for download.
- Click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:
- Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an email message.
- Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively and to resume an interrupted download if the connection drops.
This method requires a one-time installation of the Akamai NetSession client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum operation is used to verify file integrity automatically.
- Repeat steps 10 and 11 for each tab.
- To go back to the product listing page to download other product files, or to log off from EPD, click the << Back to Product List link that is displayed at the top-right of the pop-up window.
To import the full repository with predefined packages and policies
- Log on to the TrueSight console. In the navigation pane, expand Administration, select Repository, and select the Installation Components tab.
- Click
Import.
- In the Import a Repository or Solution dialog box, select Full repository with Predefined Packages and Policies and click Continue.
Browse and select the repository file from the Presentation Server file system, and click Import.
- Provide the following information or accept the default information. All fields are mandatory.
- BMC Software Products Installation Directory
Specify the installation directory. Note that the BMC PATROL products are installed one level below the BMC products installation directory. - PATROL Default Account Properties
Provide the PATROL default account credentials. You must create this account manually before continuing with the installation. If you plan to use a domain account, enter DOMAIN_NAME\account name; otherwise, enter the local account. - System Root (or root privileged via sudo) Account Properties
For UNIX operating systems, provide the System Root account details. Integration Service Configuration
The Integration Service variable is used for automatic registration of the PATROL Agent with Infrastructure Management.
Enter the Integration Services to connect to. Use the format Protocol:Integration Service Hostname:PortNumber. For example tcp:IS1:3183, where 3183 is the port on which the Integration Service host listens for an incoming PATROL Agent auto-registration connection.- Predefined Policies
If there are existing policies with the same name, you can choose to overwrite them or not.
- BMC Software Products Installation Directory
The selected archive file is imported to the repository and extracted. You can close the window during the import process.
The predefined packages are created at Administration > Repository > Deployable Packages tab. You can delete predefined packages but cannot edit them.
The predefined policies are created at Configuration > Infrastructure Policies. By default, the predefined policies are enabled with a precedence in the 900 range.
To import the full repository
- Log on to the TrueSight console. In the navigation pane, expand Administration, select Repository, and select the Installation Components tab.
- Click
Import.
- In the Import a Repository or Solution dialog box, select Full repository and click Continue.
- Browse and select the repository file from the Presentation Server file system, and click Import.
The selected archive file is imported to the repository and extracted. You can close the window during the import process.
To import a single monitoring solution
- Log on to the TrueSight console. In the navigation pane, expand Administration, select Repository, and select the Installation Components tab.
- Click
Import.
- In the Import a Repository or Solution dialog box, select Single Solution.
- Click Browse to browse and select the monitoring solution archive file from your local computer's file system.
The selected file is displayed in the File Selected: box. - Click Import to import the monitoring solution.
The selected archive file is imported to the repository and extracted. You can close the window during the import process.
To import a custom monitoring solution
Before you can import a custom monitoring solution, you must build and package the monitoring solution.
Use the PCIG tool to build and package the custom monitoring solution. For more information, see Building and packaging custom monitoring solutions.
- Access the PCIG tool depending on the repository version installed:
- Repository version 10.0.03 and later: From the <Presentation Server installation directory>\TrueSightPServer\truesightpserver\modules\cma\pproxy\depot_directory\bmc_products\tools\pcig directory.
Repository version earlier than 10.0.03: From EPD. See Downloading BMC Installation Utility.
- Log on to the TrueSight console. In the navigation pane, expand Administration, select Repository, and select the Installation Components tab.
Click
Import.
- In the Import a New Solution dialog box, select Single Solution.
- Click Browse to browse and select the custom monitoring solution archive file from your local computer's file system.
The selected file is displayed in the File Selected: box. - Click Import to import the monitoring solution.
The selected archive file is imported to the repository and extracted. You can close the window during the import process.
