9.0.53

Monitor secure web pages with Network Security Services (NSS) version 3.98

PATROL for Internet Server utilizes the Mozilla Firefox Network Security Services (NSS) libraries for secure communication (HTTPS). To support the monitoring of secure web pages using the latest protocols and ciphers, the Mozilla NSS libraries have been updated to version 3.98. This change does not affect monitoring open, nonsecure web pages (HTTP).

Deprecated feature

Dropped support for Oracle Solaris and IBM® AIX® 64-bit platforms

Starting with version 9.0.53 of PATROL for Internet Server, support for Oracle Solaris x86 (64-bit) and IBM® AIX® x86 (64-bit) has been discontinued because Mozilla Firefox Network Security Services (NSS) is no longer supporting Oracle Solaris and IBM® AIX®.

9.0.52

Enabled device mapping settings

Manage the creation of devices for Internet Server and URL monitor types with this option. Device creation is enabled by default.

Get improved import certificate feature

Utilize a monitoring policy to enhance the import of security certificates required for accessing URLs.

Get improved support for Web server redirect settings

Efficiently activate or deactivate internal URL redirection with this configuration. It serves various purposes, including streamlining website content, managing outdated URLs, and enhancing navigation with user-friendly redirects.

9.0.51

Proxy settings support for URL configurations

With proxy settings support, users can configure the BMC PATROL for Internet Servers to route their monitoring requests through a proxy server. This is particularly useful in environments where direct internet access is restricted, and a proxy server acts as an intermediary for communication with external resources.

Updated Network Security Services (NSS) version to 3.38

PATROL for Internet Server utilizes the Mozilla Firefox Network Security Services (NSS) libraries for secure communication (HTTPS). This change does not affect the monitoring of open, none secure web pages (HTTP).

Override Host name/IP address mapping for configured Forced IP address

The KM now provides support to override the device mapping name for configured Forced IP address. If the configured Host name/IP address is set with an alias name and the Forced IP address is configured, the device gets mapped to the TrueSight console with the Host name/IP address and the KM monitors the Web Server IP address that configured is in Forced IP address.

Advanced logging feature

PATROL for Internet Server centralizes the logging feature to enable/disable from a single checkbox for all PATROL for Internet Server components.

The log files are generated in the $PATROL_HOME/log directory. The directory contains the following log files:

  • InetClient.log – printouts of non-secure connections activity
  • INETSSLExtended.log - printouts of secure connections activity
  • ism-<PATROL_HOSTNAME>-<PATROL_PORT>.kmlog  - printouts of PATROL for Internet Server general activity

No printouts will be written on the PATROL System Output Window (SOW) or in any other place except for the files above.

  • CentOS 7.6
  • IBM® AIX® 7.2
  • Oracle Solaris 11.3
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12
  • Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.5
