What's new

Special characters supported with port monitoring

Underscore and space special characters are now supported in Web service name (used as instance label) while monitoring ports.

Improved data security by using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)

BMC PATROL for Internet Server supports AES encryption capability of the BMC PATROL Agent version 10.0.00. For information about Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) implementation in PATROL Agent, see PATROL Agent documentation.

What's changed

Deprecated feature

Root cause analysis for BMC PATROL for Internet Servers Knowledge Module is deprecated as of version 9.0.30 and is no longer supported.

Disabled JAVA home popup window

When JAVA Runtime Environment (JRE) is not installed with the KM, JAVA home popup window is displayed with every restart of the PATROL Agent. Because JRE is not required while monitoring the KM, the JAVA home popup window has been disabled.

Downloading the service pack

This section provides the information that you need to download and install the service pack from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website.

To download the installation utility and service pack from the EPD website

  1. Create a directory for the downloaded files.

    Note

On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
  3. At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
  4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
  5. If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
  6. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose.
  7. You can download the installation utility and the product service pack using either of the following methods:
Using Component View

  4. In the Version list, select 10.5.00, and click Go.

    • Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an email message.
