Current Down Time for the HTTP Server (httpDownTime)
The httpDownTime parameter indicates the downtime (in seconds) for the HTTP server. Since the default time out value is 30 seconds for each monitored URL, if you are not aware of how the httpDownTime parameter for the server is calculated and are monitoring many URLs, it can take a very long time to receive notification that a web server is down. For example, if you are monitoring ten URLs it will take 300 seconds or 5 minutes to work through All of the URLs and calculate the total site downtime, plus the polling interval. If the httpDownTime parameter is the only thing you have set to notify you of a problem or if you set it to alarm after a number of times, the amount of time required before you are notified will probably be very long.
Solution:
Change the default timeout value to something in line with industry standards. For example, 5-10 seconds. You might also consider shortening the default-polling interval for httpMonitor as well.
