Configuring the server root (home) directory

The Server Root (home) directory is the relative base for other files and commands. It is the top level directory for the web server and is used to locate the log files. The path must be readable by the local PATROL Agent.

You can use the path to the server root (home) directory as a relative path for other file locations in the dialog boxes of this web server instance. To use this value in a field of a dialog box, you must reference it as %{home}. For example, if your Apache web server has a Server Root (home) directory of /local/apache and your access log is located at /local/apache/logs, you can enter %{home}/logs/access_log as a valid path.

To configure the Server Root (home) directory

  1. Access the menu commands for the server instance.
  2. Select the PATROL Admin > Configure command and then, depending on which root you want, select either Files or Local.
  3. Type the full path name of the home directory in the Server Root text field.
  4. Click Accept to save the current entries and close the dialog box.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
