Specifying a notification script
This topic describes how to select the notification script.
Before you begin
Before you follow these steps to specify a notification script, you should have completed the following steps:
- Determined which script you are going to use
- Determined which PATROL objects to associate with the script
- Customized the script (if necessary)
- Tested the script

To specify a notification script
- Access the host KM menu commands as described in Accessing KM Menu Commands.
- Choose the KM menu command Event Management > Alert Settings > Local Alert Settings > Nofitication Command.
- Choose the application class, instance, or parameter that you want to associate with the recovery action.
The SET EVENT MANAGEMENT VARIABLE: alertLocalCommand dialog box is displayed. - From the SET EVENT MANAGEMENT VARIABLE: alertLocalCommand dialog box, enter the full path and file name of the notification script.
- To use command-line arguments in your notification command, select No for Call Command using Event Management KM environment variables only.
- Using only environment variables is more efficient but you may have a need to use command-line arguments. For more information, see useEnvOnlyForCmds.
- To save your changes, click Accept.
The notification command is stored in the rule alertLocalCommand.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
