Specifying a notification script


This topic describes how to select the notification script.

Before you begin

Before you follow these steps to specify a notification script, you should have completed the following steps:

  1. Determined which script you are going to use
  2. Determined which PATROL objects to associate with the script
  3. Customized the script (if necessary)
  4. Tested the script

To specify a notification script

  1. Access the host KM menu commands as described in Accessing KM Menu Commands.
  2. Choose the KM menu command Event Management > Alert Settings > Local Alert Settings > Nofitication Command.
  3. Choose the application class, instance, or parameter that you want to associate with the recovery action.
    The SET EVENT MANAGEMENT VARIABLE: alertLocalCommand dialog box is displayed.
  4. From the SET EVENT MANAGEMENT VARIABLE: alertLocalCommand dialog box, enter the full path and file name of the notification script.
  5. To use command-line arguments in your notification command, select No for Call Command using Event Management KM environment variables only.
  6. Using only environment variables is more efficient but you may have a need to use command-line arguments. For more information, see useEnvOnlyForCmds.
  7. To save your changes, click Accept.

The notification command is stored in the rule alertLocalCommand.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
