Configuring email notification

Before you begin

Before you configure email notification, determine the following:

  • Which type of command-line email program to use
  • Which remote agents to monitor
  • The notification servers (primary and backup) for each remote agent
  • The command (script) used to send email notifications. For more information, see Using notification scripts.
  • Which application instances or parameters to create notifications for
  • The data to include with the notification (optional)
  • Who to send the email notification to (targets)
  • Where to place notification rules (remote agents or notification servers). For more information, see Deciding where to place rules.
