Debugging

Enabling debugging

You can debug both the Java Collector and the PATROL Agent.

To debug the PATROL Agent

1. From the PATROL Console work area, right-click Entuity.
2. Select KM commands>Debug>Set Debug.
    The Set Debug dialog box is displayed
3. Select Enable.
4. Click Ok.

To debug the Java Collector

1. From the PATROL Console work area, right-click Entuity.
2. Select KM commands>PATROL KM Administration>Advanced>External Java Collector Process Settings.
    The External Java collector process settings dialog box is displayed
3. Enable Debug.
4. Click Ok

• by default the Java Collector debug file is saved to C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Patrol3\ZXC\logs\java. The file name format is <portNumber>_ZXC_JavaCollector
• by default the PATROL Agent debug file is saved to C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Patrol3\ZXC\logs. The file name format is <portNumber>_ZXC_PSL.

Changing debug file size

The default value of each debug file is 10MB, you might want to increase the size of one or both of these files.

To change the value of the Java Collector file size

1. Stop the PATROL Agent
2. Access the Collector.properties file (Default path= C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Patrol3\ZXC\Conf)
3. Modify the DebugFileSize value.

4. Restart the PATROL Agent. 

   Warning

   Note

   The size of the Java Collector log reverts to the default value (10MB) next time you restart the PATROL Agent.

To change the value of the PATROL Agent file size

1. Stop the PETROLAgent
2. Access the Agent.properties file (Default path= C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Patrol3\ZXC\Conf)
3. Modify the AgentDebugFileSize value.
4. Restart the PATROL Agent.
