HADR monitoring requirements


Before you start monitoring HADR databases, following requirements should be met.

Primary HADR database monitoring requirements

  • PATROL Agent, the DB2 UDB instance, and PATROL for DB2 Universal Database should be installed and running on the operating system with the primary HADR database.
  • You must use PATROL for DB2 Universal Database to configure the DB2 UDB instance that has the primary HADR database. For more information about configuring the DB2 UDB instance, see Configuring DB2 UDB EE.
  • Connect to primary HADR database in one of the following ways:
    • Create a connection to the primary HADR database using the following command: db2 connect todatabaseName
    • Activate the primary HADR database from the DB2 UDB database using the following command: 

      db2 activate dbdatabaseName

Standby HADR database monitoring requirements

  • PATROL Agent, the DB2 UDB instance, and PATROL for DB2 Universal Database should be installed and running on the operating system with the standby HADR database.
  • Use PATROL for DB2 Universal Database to configure the DB2 UDB instance that has the standby HADR database. For more information about configuring the DB2 UDB instance, see Configuring DB2 UDB EE.
  • Activate the standby HADR database from the DB2 UDB database using the following command:
    db2 activate dbdatabaseName
