Clearing an SQL Viewer

Use this task when you want to purge information from an SQL Viewer.

Before you begin

You must stop an active viewer before you can clear it. To do this, select the Stop SQL Viewer command from the SQL Viewer instance menu.

Clearing a viewer enables you to free up space and continue collecting SQL data. This action is useful for providing continuity when you are monitoring the same application or the same user. If you want to change the criteria that you are using to monitor for SQL activity, you should delete the viewer and create a new viewer.

Additionally, clearing an SQL Viewer does not free up all the space used by the viewer. Only the buffer that holds the data associated with the viewer is cleared. Dropping a viewer frees all the space being used by the viewer.
