Triggering application discovery

After configuring the KM and setting the defaults, you can trigger application discovery to immediately effect the changes rather than wait for a discovery refresh cycle. This procedure presents two methods for forcing application discovery.

To force application discovery: Method one

Right-click on the PATROL AGENT icon in the console and select Trigger Agent Activities > Perform Application Discovery.

To force application discovery: Method two

  1. Right-click on the computer icon that represents the host computer.

  2. From the KM Commands menu, select Utilities > Patrol > Force Discovery.
    The discovered applications appear in the icon window after PATROL finishes performing a discovery cycle for each loaded KM on the selected host.

    Note

    This process can take several minutes to complete.
