Managing default accounts

You must set up a default account for each DB2 instance that you monitor. The default account controls access to the DB2 instance and determines the authorizations to perform tasks. You also have the option to set up default accounts for accessing KM menus that affect updating, creating, deleting, starting, and stopping DB2 resources, such as the database manager, databases, tablespaces, tables, and applications. For more information about default accounts, see Setting-up-default-accounts-for-EE-and-EEE.

  1. From the SETUP menu, select KM Commands > Configuration> Configure Default Accounts.
  2. select from the following options:
    • To configure a default account user, select the applicable instance. If the applicable instance does not exist, add the instance name, and then select the correct DB2 UDB version. Next, select Monitoring User Information, Menu Commands User Information, or both, and then type the appropriate default account user IDs and passwords.

      Note

If a message is displayed informing you that you have entered an invalid user ID or password, check the user ID and password to ensure that they are correct.

    • To remove a default account user, select the applicable instance. If the applicable instance does not exist, add the instance name, and then select the correct DB2 UDB version. Next, select Monitoring User Information, Menu Commands User Information, or both, and then select the Remove option.

SYSMAINT authority to monitor the DB2 KM

PATROL for DB2 UDB enables users with the SYSMAINT authority to monitor the DB2 KM. Previously, only users with SYSADM or SYSCTRL authority could monitor the DB2 KM. Using SYSMAINT authority, the parameters works correctly and you can monitor database, however, the following table lists the KM commands that will not work with the SYSMAINT authority:
