Working with the Database Manager

You can monitor and manage the database manager (DBM) in your DB2 UDB EEE instances through certain parameters and menu commands included in the DB2 UDB EEE component. You can start, stop, and force stop the DBM across all nodes defined in the db2nodes.cfg file, or on a particular node. You can also manage the DBM configuration. You perform these tasks from the DB2 DBM instance icon.

To start, stop, or force stop a DBM Across all nodes

  2. Select one of the following submenu commands:
    • Start Database Manager
    • Stop Database Manager
  3. Select the All Nodes option.
  4. To force all applications offline when stopping the DBM on all nodes, select the All nodes forcing off ALL applications option in the Stop Database Manager window.

    Note

Issuing the stop command while applications are running on the nodes that you have selected to stop does not stop the DBM unless you select the All nodes forcing off ALL applications option. You can also force applications offline by using the Force Applications command in the DB2 instance menu.

To start or stop a DBM on a particular node

  1. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 in the proceeding procedure.
  2. Select the Node number option and enter the number of the node at which you want to start or stop the DBM. You can also start or stop a DBM at the node from the DB2EEE_NODE icon menu by executing the Start DBM at Node or Stop DBM at Node commands.

    Note
