Cataloging databases in the system directory
The DB2 system database directory contains database access information for all databases managed by the DB2 DBM instance. A system catalog entry is automatically created in the system directory when a DB2 database is created. You can specify a new database alias name to create a new catalog entry for a database and even maintain multiple aliases.
With PATROL for DB2 UDB, you can catalog databases, uncatalog databases, and recatalog databases using the following procedure.
To catalog, uncatalog, or recatalog a database
- Right-click the DB2EEE instance icon and select Database Administration> Directory Mgmt > Databases.
- select one of the following commands:
- Catalog Database
- Catalog DCS Database
- Catalog Global Database (catalogs a DCE-type database)
- Uncatalog Database
- Uncatalog DCS Database
Enter the required information.
