Managing DB2 applications and agents


A DB2 application is any application that connects to DB2. With PATROL for DB2 UDB you can manage all your DB2 applications in a DBM instance. You can also manage only those DB2 applications associated with a particular database. The following procedures enables you to list the applications active in a DB2 instance or database, force applications offline, and run Agent Info reports.

To manage all DB2 applications in a DBM instance

  1. Right-click on the DB2 DBM instance icon and select Database Administration> Applications Mgmt.
  2. select one of the following commands:
    • List Applications
    • List Application Details
    • List DCS Applications
    • Force Application

To view or force applications connected to a specific database

Right-click the database icon and select Database Administration > Applications Mgmt, and then select one of the following commands:

  • List Applications
  • List Application Details
  • Force Applications

To manage the DB2 agents associated with applications

Perform either of the following tasks:

  • Double-click an application icon to display the agent objects for that application. Right-click the agent icon to display the menu from which you can force the agent offline, refresh parameters, or turn on debugging.
  • Right-click the application icon to run reports and run SQL Snapshot.
