Cataloging nodes in the system node directory
A node directory contains the information necessary to establish communication from a client workstation to the DBM server instance. A node entry must exist in the system node directory to establish communication with the node. With PATROL for DB2 UDB, you can view the DB2 node directory entries and add or delete nodes in the system directory. You must know the type of communication protocol for the node that you are cataloging before you can begin this task.
To catalog a node in the system node directory or uncatalog a node
- Right-click on a DB2 DBM instance and select Database Administration>Directory Mgmt>Node.
- select one of the following commands to catalog (or uncatalog) a node:
- Catalog Local Node (creates local alias and uses IPC protocol)
- Catalog TCP/IP Node
- Catalog NetBIOS Node (Windows NT only)
- Catalog APPC Node
- Catalog IPX/SPX Node (Windows NT only)
- Catalog Named Pipe Node (Windows NT only)
- Uncatalog a Node
