Determining how to upgrade

If you already have a version of PATROL for DB2 UDB installed in your environment, determine whether or not there are any customizations in the installed product that you want to save. Customizations to Knowledge Modules (.km ) and PSL (.psl ) files are stored in cache, however, they are not preserved and incorporated automatically. Customizations made to PATROL for DB2 UDB can include:

  • new Knowledge Modules (.km files) that you created
  • modified PSL code, whether it is embedded in .km or .psl files
  • parameter overrides created with a PATROL developer console (version 3.4.11 and later)
  • changes to parameter alarm ranges, recovery actions, states, or other parameter properties

Customizations that were applied by using PATROL Configuration Manager or operator overrides are saved in the agent configuration database automatically. The customizations take effect automatically.

Use the following table to determine whether you should upgrade and save your customizations or upgrade without saving any customizations, and use the appropriate procedure.
