New Knowledge Module (KM) files
The following Knowledge Module (KM) files are added to the 9.0.00 release of PATROL for DB2 UDB:

These files are required to discover instances after you upgrade to version 9.0.00 of BMC PATROL for DB2 UDB from an earlier version.
New pconfig variable
The following pconfig variable is added in the 9.0.00 release of PATROL for DB2 UDB:
pconfig variable | Description |
|---|---|
enable_agent_parameters_list Path: /DB2Config/DB2/enable_agent_parameters_list /DB2Config/DB2EEE/enable_agent_parameters_list | enables the monitoring of the inactive parameters in the DB2_AGENT/DB2EEE_AGENT application class Values: parameter names separated by spaces Configuration Menu Command: None Collector affected: CollAgent |
Support for new operating systems
Version 9.0.00 of PATROL for DB2 UDB adds support for the following operating systems:
- CentOS 5.6, x86-64
- IBM® AIX® 7.1, 64-bit
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6.x, x86
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6.x, x86-64

Support for new DB2 edition
Version 9.0.00 of PATROL for DB2 UDB adds support for versions 9.5 and 9.7 of DB2 Workgroup Server Edition.
Replacement of APIs with SQL queries
With this release, the IBM APIs are replaced with SQL queries and DB2 SnapShot commands.
The following collectors and their parameters now collect data by using SQL queries and DB2 Snapshot commands instead of APIs:
- CollAgent Collector
- CollBufferpool Collector
- CollDatabase Collector
- CollPerformance Collector
Internationalization and localization information
BMC provides support for DB2 UDB for customers in North Asia Pacific. PATROL for DB2 UDB runs on supported operating systems for the following languages and can accept input, process it, and display data in these languages. However, UTF-8 encoding multi-byte data cannot be processed and displayed properly.

Corrected problems
The following problems were corrected in this version. The table lists a tracking ID if BMC assigned one to the issue.
Tracking ID | Description |
|---|---|
QM001701493 | The DiagLogFSPctUsed parameter generated Alarm alerts because the output of the disk free (df-k) command extended to the next line and the parameter could not detect the free space. |
QM001723970 | When you upgraded from PATROL for DB2 UDB version 6.7.10 to version 6.8.00, the DiagLogFSFreeSpace parameter did not detect free space left, because the output of the disk free (df-k) command extended to the next line. |
QM001726448 | The CollConntoDB parameter reported an unable to connect to database (SQL1060N) error message because the KM used an incorrect account to connect to the database for subsequent channels in the partitions. |
QM001681195 | The %REFRESH_APPL_DISC PSL function, which is used by the PATROL Agent to re-read configuration and rediscover applications in DB2 KM, caused forced discovery on other KMs in the environment. |
QM001639049 | When an instance was configured by using the default account and a special character in the password, the DB2_SETUP configuration dialog box did not display all tablespaces present in the database. |
QM001699216 | Silent installation of the PATROL for DB2 UDB KM failed when it was installed with other components because a PPF tag was missing. |
QM001705932 | The PctPagesUsed and SpaceLeft parameters could not collect data. |
QM001715176 | The ConntoDBOK parameter did not report that maximum number of connections to the database was reached in the annotation report, and generated false alerts. |
QM001731229 | Suspending instance discovery, using a file feature was not working for inst1 if inst11 and inst12 are present in the environment, because inst1 is a subset of inst11. |
QM001687130 | The DB2 KM binary failed to install because the PATROL Agent 3.8.50 for 64-bit operating systems had a different PATROL home directory. |
Known issues and workarounds
The following issues remain open in this release of BMC PATROL for DB2 UDB. The table lists a tracking ID if BMC assigned one to the issue.
Tracking ID | Issue |
|---|---|
QM001715536 | The PctPagesUsed parameter for SMS and DMS tablespaces generates a false alert when you are setting the db2profile user account. Workaround: Provide execute permission to the Configure Default Account User to source the db2profile for the relevant DB2 instance. |
QM001616606 | The product fails to discover a DB2 UDB version 9.x instance on an HP-UX operating system when the DB2 UDB database is installed in a non-default path. Workaround: Create a softlink from the non-default database path to the default database path by using the following command: ln -s nonDefaultPath defaultPath |

Virtual machine support limitation
VMware provides technology that creates virtual infrastructures by providing a layer of abstraction between the computing, storage, and networking hardware, and the software that runs on it. This technology enables you to run additional operating systems in multiple windows called virtual machines.
BMC does not anticipate problems with its products in virtual infrastructure implementations. However, PATROL for DB2 UDB has not been specifically tested in this scenario. Therefore, BMC provides support only for problems that are reproducible without this complementary technology.
