Each component (also known as a KM) encapsulates the application class files (.km files) that PATROL uses to discover, monitor, and manage specific DB2 UDB objects. Which component you use to monitor DB2 UDB depends on which DB2 UDB product (or products) you are running in your environment.

The PATROL for DB2 UDB KM components are dependent on the PATROL Agent and PATROL console components to operate. When you install PATROL for DB2 UDB into the PATROL console, you can monitor your entire DB2 enterprise from a single console which gives you a complete picture of DB2 events and conditions on monitored hosts that are running the PATROL Agent. The PATROL Agent runs in the background, displaying no windows, icons, or information. All statistics collected are sent to the console.
