The BMC PATROL product for IBM ® DB2 Universal Database ® applications (PATROL for DB2 UDB) monitors DB2 UDB system resources, whether the system is a single DB2 UDB server application or multiple DB2 UDB applications in a large-scale partitioned environment. PATROL for DB2 UDB supports the following versions of DB2 UDB:

  • DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Edition (EE)
  • DB2 Universal Database Enterprise-Extended Edition (EEE)
  • DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Server Edition (ESE)
  • DB2 Workgourp Server Edition (WSE)

The PATROL for DB2 UDB components are Knowledge Modules (KMs) that contain commands, application classes, parameters, and recovery actions that PATROL uses during system monitoring, analysis, and management activities. PATROL automatically discovers all DB2 UDB resources and populates the PATROL console with icons representing the states of discovered objects.

The PATROL for DB2 UDB parameters enable you to analyze system performance quickly and provide a detailed statement of all system activity over time. A number of parameters have annotated data reports that assist you in pinpointing events. You can identify peaks, troughs, and trends in the performance of system resources. By enabling you to detect problems, optimize systems, analyze trends, plan capacity, and manage multiple hosts simultaneously, PATROL for DB2 UDB helps to ensure that the DB2 UDB systems throughout your enterprise run efficiently 24 hours a day.
