First time installation

Use the following table to determine whether you should use this installation procedure.

Before you begin

Whether this is a first-time installation or an upgrade, perform the following actions:

  • Create the PATROL default account. See OS accounts on Windows and OS accounts on UNIX .
  • Plan to install the product on a limited number of computers in a test environment, test the installation thoroughly, and then install the product in your production environment.

If you are upgrading, regardless of whether you plan to save your changes, perform the following actions:

  • Move the earlier PATROL for DB2 UDB installation to a directory that is different from PATROL_HOME.
  • Remove PATROL for DB2 UDB files from PATROL_CACHE. If you do not, old product files in PATROL_CACHE are loaded instead of the newly installed files from PATROL_HOME. The following table lists the default values for PATROL Location variables.
