Unloading a PATROL KM

Unloading the PATROL KM is the process of removing all application class objects from the KM in an active console session. This task is useful if you want to upgrade the KM without shutting down the PATROL console. You can also use this task to selectively remove monitored objects (application classes) from an active console session.

Warning

Note

This task does not delete the KM files from your PATROL console or Agent computers.

Before you begin

  • The KM must have been loaded.
  • You must also shut down the KM to ensure that all commands have been processed successfully before you unload the KM. To do this, from the SETUP menu, select Shutdown Knowledge Module.

To unload the KM in the UNIX console

  1. In the PATROL main window, select Attributes > Application Classes.
  2. In the List of Application Classes dialog box, select a KM application class to remove.
For a complete list of the application class files, see Knowledge Module filesets.
  3. select Edit > Delete.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all PATROL KM application classes are deleted.

    Warning

    Note

You must delete all application classes to unload the KM. If you do not delete all application classes, the KM might appear to be unloaded because it does not operate, but it will not be unloaded. This situation might prevent you from correctly loading an upgrade.

  5. select File > Exit to return to the PATROL main window.

To unload the KM in the Windows NT console

  1. In the Tree View pane, click the KM tab.
  2. Expand the Knowledge Module tree view.
  3. Expand the Application Classes folder to view the application classes.
  4. Right-click the KM application class file that you want to delete and select Delete.
Warning

Note

To reload the KM after it has been unloaded, see Loading the KM component.
