Handling pool master failover
This topic provides instructions about modifying the pool master details in case of pool master failover.
Depending on the pool master failover scenario, you can modify the pool master details by using the Modify Pool Master menu command or the Configure Performance Data Collection Account menu command.
Using the Modify Pool Master menu command
Use this method in the following failover scenarios:
- The KM is monitoring the resource pool and the KM fails to find the host name corresponding to the new pool master IP address.
- The KM is not monitoring any resource pool (PATROL Agent is offline).
To modify pool master details:
- Navigate to the resource pool node, under the VSM_XEN_RESOURCEPOOL application class.
- Right-click the resource pool node and select KM Commands > Modify Pool Master to display the Modify Pool Master dialog box.
- In the PoolMaster text box, enter the name of the new pool master.
- In the User name text box. enter the user name for the new new pool master.
- In the Password text box, enter password for the user.
- In the Confirm password text box, confirm the password.
- In the Port text box, enter port number for the new pool master.
- Click Apply.
Using the Configure Performance Data Collection Account menu command
Use this method when the KM is monitoring the resource pool and the KM is not able to find the credentials of the new pool master (because the performance data collection account is not configured for the new pool master). Use the Configure Performance Data Collection Account menu command to configure the performance data collection account for the new pool master.
To modify pool master details:

- Right-click the resource pool node and select KM Commands > Configure Performance Data Collection Account.

Select the Use pool credentials check box, if you want to use resource pool credentials to configure performance data collection account for the new pool master.
- In the User name text box. enter the user name for new pool master.
- In the Password text box, enter password for the user.
- In the Confirm password text box, confirm the password.
