Best practices

This section describes some best practices that you can follow while performing various tasks in BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp.

  • If EdgeSight Agent is installed on PATROL Agent machine then make sure you remove the EdgeSight process injection form PATROL processes (PatrolAgent.exe, btk_server.xpc, btk_psclient.exe).
    To stop EdgeSight process injection see, http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX134770.
  • BMC recommends using domain account to monitor the XenApp farm.
  • To avoid DNS resolution issues, PATROL Agent machine should be a part of the same domain or subnet as that of XenApp servers in the farm.
  • To leverage XenApp server filtering capability make sure that you distribute load across two different PATROL Agents by configuring same farm. You can distribute servers based on their geographic locations or network subnets they are part of or the domain they reside in.
