Installation requirements


Before installing BMC PATROL for Cisco Nexus, verify that your system is supported for this product and that you have a valid license from BMC, and an appropriate account from which to install the product.

Supported Cisco Nexus models

BMC PATROL for Cisco Nexus supports the following Cisco Nexus models:

  • 1000v
  • 1000 series
  • 2000 series Fabric Extenders
  • 5000 series
  • 6100 series Fabric Interconnects
  • 7000 series

Operating system requirements

BMC PATROL for Cisco Nexus supports the following operating systems:

  • Microsoft Windows 2003 and later on x86 and x64
  • Linux RedHat AS/ES 4.0 and later on x86 and x64
  • Linux Suse SLES 9.0 and later on x86 and x64
  • Oracle® Solaris SPARC 9.0 and later

Java run environment requirement

BMC PATROL for Cisco Nexus requires Java version 1.6 and later. The Java run environment (JRE) must be installed and defined in the system environment on the same computer as the PATROL Agent or defined in the Pconfig.

Note

If Java is not defined, the path to Java home can be set using the Set Java Home command or defined directly in Pconfig.

PATROL Agent and console requirements

BMC PATROL for Cisco Nexus can be loaded into all BMC console options and BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management. BMC PATROL for Cisco Nexus is supported by the following versions:

  • BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management version 9.0 and later
  • BMC Classic Console all versions
  • BMC Central Console all versions
  • BMC Web Edition all versions
  • PATROL Agent version 9.0

Installer requirements

BMC PATROL for Cisco Nexus is supported by the following installers:

  • BMC PATROL installer version 7.5.62 or later
  • BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Package Installation Repository 9.0 and later

Note

BMC products are certified for use on supported operating system versions. BMC does not explicitly test for OS patches/updates that are released after a BMC product is released.

BMC products should work fine with minor updates to these supported operating systems. For assistance, please contact BMC Customer Support.
