Adding switches

After you have added a switch, BMC PATROL for Cisco Nexus creates a switch instance, performs discovery on the switch, creates instances of application classes to represent all the elements discovered, and displays them under the switch instance.

Before you begin

Create a list containing the switch name or IP address, port, user name, and password for all switches to be monitored.

To add switches

  1. From the PATROL Console work area, right-click Cisco Nexus switches.
  2. Select KM Commands > Configuration > Cisco Nexus Switch Setup.
  3. From Configure Cisco Nexus Switches dialog box, select Add, and click Enter.

    Warning

    Note

The Configured Cisco Nexus Switch field contains the server names (or IP addresses) of all the switches that you have configured. This field is empty until you configure a switch.
The fully qualified name is required only if the switch does not belong to the same domain as the PATROL Agent.

  4. From Add Cisco Nexus Switch dialog box, enter the required details. The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline.
  5. Click Apply.

Where to go from here

After initial installation all the parameters of the Health and Port Profile components are monitored. However only the basic group of the Interface parameters of the Control, Ethernet, Management, and Port Channel components are monitored.

If you want to add or remove monitoring of additional Interface parameter groups and components, see Selecting components and Selecting Interface parameter groups.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
