Configuring email notification by using the PATROL Console
You can configure email notification settings to send out an email with detailed information about an alert (when a parameter goes into an alarm) to the designated email IDs.
Before you begin
Before you configure email notification settings, perform the following steps:
- You must download, install, and configure version 2.6.2 or later of the BLAT utility that is used to send emails via the command line interface. This utility is available at www.blat.net.
- You must set up a profile in BLAT by using the command, blat -install smtpName senderID retryTimes port profileName
where,
- smtpName refers to the DNS name or the IP address of the computer hosting the SMTP service through which email messages are to be sent.
- senderID refers to the sender’s email ID from where an email notification must be sent in the event of an alarm generation.
- retryTimes refers to the maximum number of times to try to send an email before timing out.
- port refers to the port number of the SMTP server. By default, the port is 25.
- profileName refers to the name with which to identify the profile that you want to set.
Example: blat --install mail.bmc.com xyz@bmc.com 3 25 MTM patrol password
