Uninstalling


To uninstall a product from your system, you must use the same version of the installation utility that you used to install the product. If you use a different version of the installation utility to uninstall, you might remove files that are needed to uninstall other BMC products.

Before you begin

Before you can uninstall BMC PATROL products, stop the PATROL Agent and any PATROL processes that are running on the computers where you want to uninstall BMC PATROL. For information about stopping PATROL processes, see the PATROL Agent Reference Manual at PDFs

To uninstall in a Microsoft Windows environment

  1. From the Uninstall directory in your BMC product installation directory, double-click uninstall.exeto launch the installation utility in uninstall mode.

     

    Warning

    Note

    As an option, you can launch the installation utility in uninstall mode by choosing Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and double-clicking BMC Software Tools in the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box. 

  2. In the Welcome window, click Next to start the uninstall process.
  3. Select the installation directory from which you want to remove a product, and click Next.
  4. Select the product or products that you want to uninstall, and click Next.
  5. Review your selections and click Uninstall.
     A window is displayed that tells you whether the uninstallation was successful.

To uninstall in a UNIX environment

  1. Change to the Uninstall directory in your BMC product installation directory and enter the following command to launch the installation utility in uninstall mode:  ./uninstall.sh
  2. In the Welcome window, click Next.
  3. Select the installation directory from which you want to remove a product and click Next.
  4. Select the product or products that you want to uninstall and click Next.
  5. Review your selections and click Start Uninstall.
     After the uninstallation is complete, a window is displayed that tells you whether the uninstallation was successful.
  6. Click Next to continue.
  7. Click Finish to exit the uninstallation process.

Uninstalling a Transaction Execution Adapter (TEA) Agent

After you have used the Central Monitoring Administration (CMA) Console to install the TEA Agent, the system creates an uninstall directory, from which you can uninstall all agents. To uninstall the agents, run the uninstall.exe file in the main uninstall directory and follow instructions of the the installer. By default, this directory is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\BMC Software\Uninstall. To delete one or several TEA Agents, perform the following actions:

  1. Log on to the host computer as a user with administrator privileges.
  2. Perform one of the following steps to delete one or several agents:
    • From the installation directory of the specific agent (by default, C:\Program Files (x86)\BMC Software\BMCTEAAgent), run uninstall.exe.
    • From Control Panel > Programs and Features, select to uninstall the agent named BMC Synthetic Transaction Execution Adapter (TEA) Agent 2.6.10 Install x. The variable x represents the installation number. The first agent installation is numbered 1, the second is number 2, and so forth.

      Warning

      Note

      In some versions of Windows, the file path of the selected item is displayed in the comments section at the bottom of the window.

      If the file path is not displayed in the comments section, view the Programs and Features list by Details, and then add the Location column.

  3. On the welcome page of the utility, click Next.
  4. On the feature selection page, select to uninstall the BMC Synthetic Transaction Execution Adapter Agent and click Next.
  5. On the Uninstallation Preview page, click Uninstall.
    One of the following responses occurs:
    • Uninstall begins.
    • Uninstall cannot begin because the TEA Agent is running. Click Previous and wait for the TEA Agent to stop (or manual stop the TEA Agent) before proceeding.
  6. On the Uninstallation Summary page, click View Log to examine the log, then click Done to exit the utility.
