Setting up the installation environment
The following topics describe how to set up the installation environment.

Choosing between a local installation and a remote installation
Determining the version of the installation utility
The version of the installation utility included on the CD or Electronic Product Download (EPD) image that you use to install the product might differ from a version included on another product CD or from a version that you downloaded from the BMC EPD website. Use the version of the installation utility that comes with the product that you are installing.
To determine the version of the installation utility
- Open the command prompt.
- Navigate to the directory where the installation utility is located.
- (Windows) %BMC_ROOT\..\common\security\bin\platform
- (UNIX) $BMC_ROOT/../common/security/bin/platform
- Depending on the operating system you are using, enter one of the following commands:
- (Windows) setup.exe -v
- (UNIX) setup.sh -v
A message box displays the version of the installation utility.
