Using agent actions in the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management operator console
Before you begin
You can only use an agent action when the following conditions are met:
- You must have appropriate permissions required to execute agent actions.
The TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server must be registered as a component with the TrueSight..
- The application class to which the monitor belongs has the menu commands defined in the KMs for PATROL Agent.
To select an agent action
- Launch the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management operator console from the TrueSight console by selecting Monitoring > Devices.
- Select a device and in the Device Details page click on the action menu next to the device name.
- Select Launch Infrastructure Management Operator console from the menu.
Click Devices in the console's Navigation tree and click Grid View.
Devices grid view- Choose a monitor and click the blue wrench icon in the Tools Menu.
- Click Agent Actions, and select an agent action.
- If any input is required for the agent action, a dialog box is displayed. You must provide the values that are required for the action to be executed
A confirmation message is displayed after any agent action is executed.
Top level agent action functions
The following agent actions are available when you select a system at the top level of the hierarchy in the devices grid view.
KM Administration
Select either of the following options:
- Restart the Java Collector process
Agent Action Output for restart the Java collector
- Discovery Information
Displays the information for the monitored environments connected to the device.

Verify monitor configuration
This agent action identifies connectivity issues between the PATROL Agent, the communication channel, and the JAVA process.
This action is similar to using the environment checker utility.
When you select this agent action, the following is shown:

Apache Tomcat Host/IP | Enter the host name or the IP address of a local or remote host. The IP addresses can be in the IPv4 or IPv6 format. |

Password | Enter the password for the monitored JVM. |

TrustStore file Truststore password | For one-way or two-way SSL key connections, enter the truststore file path and password. |
KeyStore file KeyStore password | For two-way SSL key connections, enter the keystore file path and password. |

After you enter the parameters to verify the monitor configuration, click Execute.
Logging
This agent action enables the logging for PSL and Java activities.

Environment level agent action functions
The following agent actions are available when you select an environment under the top level of the hierarchy in the devices grid view.
Diagnostic report
This agent action generates a diagnostic reports for environment and stores it at the displayed location.
Force Discovery
As in the top level agent action, this agent action rediscovers the device hierarchy to refresh the console display.
