BMC Performance Manager for Infrastructure as a Service (BMC Performance Manager for IaaS) provides BMC PATROL for Amazon Web Services, a Knowledge Module (KM) that monitors resources hosted in the Amazon public cloud environment to check instance availability and collect performance metrics. Additionally, BMC Performance Manager for IaaS provides the following features:
- Support for multiple accounts
- Improved visualization through automatic creation and maintenance of Amazon Web Services topology construct views
Integration with BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management
BMC PATROL for Amazon Web Services fully integrates with BMC ProactiveNet. All its applications classes and parameters are displayed in BMC ProactiveNet.You can use the PATROL adapter to integrate with Knowledge Modules (KMs) with BMC ProactiveNet. PATROL Agents load information from KMs, gather statistics, and send data and events to the BMC ProactiveNet Agent. The BMC ProactiveNet Agent then generates events whenever it senses a problem evolving in the monitored infrastructure. The PATROL adapter facilitates the retrieval of performance data from the application classes of BMC PATROL solutions into BMC ProactiveNet.
You can add an adapter for BMC PATROL by using either of the following methods:
- Automated workflow (recommended)
- Manually
- Event generation
Supported in multi-byte language environments
BMC PATROL for Amazon Web Services as been validated in multi-byte language environments.
The product runs on supported operating systems for the following languages and can accept input, process, and display data in these languages. However, the user interface (such as, KM menu commands, parameter graph titles, and error messages) and online Help are displayed in English on all platforms.

With version 1.2.00 of BMC PATROL for AWS and version 9.5.00 of PATROL Agent, you can configure the monitoring of accounts and web services provided by Amazon Web Services by using version 9.0.00 of the BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration console. This improves administrative efficiency and effectiveness by allowing configuration of accounts and web services provided by Amazon Web Services by using BMC ProactiveNet policies.
