Quick overview
This product contains Knowledge Modules and Monitoring Solutions that provide information about the resources or applications running on a monitored computer. The two terms are synonymous and are often used interchangeably.
A monitoring solution is a pre-defined set of metrics that monitor the health and performance of a specific device or service. BMC monitoring solutions are composed of monitor types and attributes.

The PATROL for Agent High Availability documentation helps new and experienced users implement or use this product. Based on your role, the following sections of the documentation are recommended.

Repository
The Infrastructure Management–PATROL Repository (Repository) comprises two sets of Monitoring Solutions and KMs, known as the Base and Extended repositories.
- The Base repository contains approximately a dozen components, including the operating system KMs.
- The Extended repository contains approximately five dozen components, including the database KMs.
Every three or four months, several components of the Repository are enhanced or added.
The PATROL for Agent High Availability is a component of the extended repository. For information about downloading and installing the extended repository, see Downloading-the-installation-files.
What is PATROL for Agent Failover?
PATROL for Agent Failover empowers TrueSight customers by allowing them to assign data collection responsibilities to a pair of PATROL Agents. If the primary PATROL Agent (Primary) becomes unreachable, the partnered PATROL Agent (Secondary) is automatically configured to connect to TrueSight and resume the collection duties of the failed agent. Upon the Primary Agent regaining connectivity, it resumes its duties, and the Secondary Agent disconnects from TrueSight.
This Knowledge Module (KM) is purposefully designed to run on a PATROL Agent outside of the identified failover pairs. This setup enables a single "PATROL for Failover" agent to efficiently support any number of PATROL Agent pairs.
This Monitoring Agent can be paired with another agent, providing monitor-the-monitor redundancy if required.

Parameter Reference Database
The Parameter Reference Database (PRD) contains reports of the parameters available from the KMs and solutions in the extensive Knowledge Module (KM) library. You can access these reports in CSV, PDF, or HTML format.
You can quickly filter the list of products by typing any portion of the product name in the filter box, as shown in the following figure.
