Modify Host instanceName dialog box


Use the Modify Host instanceName dialog box to modify the details such as profile and public and private key file paths for an existing host.

This dialog box is applicable to BMC PATROL Console only.

Configuration details

To access this dialog box, right-click the AIX Hosts node and select KM Commands > Manage List of Monitored Hosts > Choose a configured host, and then select Modify Host > OK.This dialog box contains the following items:

Hostname

Displays the name of the host that is being modified.

Specify the host name of the server in either of the following options:

  • Single host name or IP address.
  • If you want to use the same configuration for multiple hosts, enter a comma separated list of host names or IP addresses with common credentials.
  • If you want to use the same configuration for large number of hosts, you can configure the remote hosts from a file (.txt, .csv). Enter the absolute path to the file that includes a list of host names or IP addresses. For example, the file path can be/opt/bmc/BMCPatrolAgent/Patrol3/log/Prouction_lpars or$PATROL_HOME/log/Prouction_lpars.
    • The file must contain a list of comma separated host names or IP addresses info(with or without publish host names) that have common credentials. 
    •  The file must be located on the host which is running the PATROL Agent. BMC PATROL default account must have read permission on the directory where the file is located. The_ConfigStatus parameter indicates errors related to the input file.
  • A combination of all the earlier options.

You can add a publish hostname to represent the host with different a hostname or, if the Fully Qualified Domain name of the remote host cannot be retrieved. The publish hostname can be added in <hostname>;<publish_hostname> format. This format can be used in any of the above options.

Port Number

Enter the remote host SSH port number. By default, the port number is set to 22.

Profile

Select the name of the profile that you want to associate with this host.

Override Profile Credentials (for profile other than NONE)

If you select this option, the default profile credentials that were set while adding the profile are overridden.

Username (required if profile is NONE)

Type the user name to log on to the remote host.

Password

Type the password.

Public Key File Path

Type the path for the Public Key file.

Private key File Path

Type the path for the Private Key file.

Passphrase

Type in the passphrase to access the public key and private key files.

OK

Click this button to save the changes.

Cancel

Click this button to close the dialog box.
