Installing BMC PATROL Knowledge Module for BMC Remedy AR Server


Perform the following steps to install BMC PATROL Knowledge Module:

  1. Place both the  BPM Infrastructure (Agent) - Common Install Version 7.5.64 and PATROL Version 1.1.00 for Remedy AR Server files, which are downloaded from the EPD website in a temporary folder.

    For information about downloading the BPM Infrastructure (Agent) - Common Install Version 7.5.64 and the BMC PATROL Knowledge Module for BMC Remedy AR Server , see Downloading-the-installation-files
  2. Extract these downloaded files. 

    Note

    Ensure that the directory structure of the zip files is maintained (that is, extract the files to the root of the same temporary directory).

    A single folder (bmc_products) will be created after the extraction.

  3. Run setup.exe (for Microsoft Windows) or setup.sh (for UNIX).

    The BMC Installation Utility window is displayed. 
  4. To begin your installation, click Next

    Note

     You can exit this installation at any time by clicking Exit.

  5. Accept the the end user license agreement and click Next
  6. In the Select Installation Option window, you have two options:

    • Install products on this computer now
    • Create an image to be installed later

    Select Install products on this computer now, and then click Next.

  7. Specify the directory where you would like your BMC Software products to be installed, or use the default BMC Software Products Installation directory and click Next.
  8. Select any of the following types of Installation, and then click Next:
    • Default
      • If you want to select prepackaged solutions with predefined configurations
      • If you are new to the product set you want to install
      • If you are performing a first-time installation that is,you are not upgrading.
    • Custom
      • If you want the ability to select or deselect components and customize configurations.
      • If you are an advanced user of the product set you want to install.
      • If you are upgrading or performing a first-time install.  
  9. Select any or all of the following options to indicate the components that you want to install and then click Next:
    • Select Common Services if you are installing to a computer that hosts the PATROL Central Operator—Web Edition (PATROL 7.x architecture) Web server or the PATROL Console Servers.
    • Select Console Systems if you are installing to a computer that hosts a PATROL Classic Console.
    • Select Managed Systems if you are installing to a computer that hosts a PATROL Agent.
  10. Expand the PATROL Knowledge Modules folder and select BMC Performance Manager for Remedy AR Server, then click Next.
  11. In the Review Selections and Start Install window, review the selections carefully to ensure that they are correct:
    • If you want to change your selections, click Back and make those changes.
    • If the selections are correct, click Start Install to start installing.
  12. When the installation is complete, click Next to view the results window.

Note

In the results window, you can click View Log to review the details of the installation.

To load BMC PATROL Knowledge Module

 Perform the following steps to load BMC PATROL Knowledge Module:

  1. Open PATROL Console Manager.

    For information about installing PATROL Console, see PATROL Console Getting Started Guide.
  2. Choose one of the following methods to open the Load KMs dialog box:

    1. From the PATROL Console menu bar, select File > Load KMs.
    2. In the KM tree, and from the shortcut menu, right-click  Knowledge Module, and choose Load KMs.

    The Load KMs dialog box is displayed.

  3. Select ARS_KM.kml.
  4. Click Open.

    PATROL loads the BMC PATROL Knowledge Module for your Console.


     After loading the KM, you need to set the Java Home variable.
  5.  Expand PATROLMainMap > host name.
  6. Right-click the Remedy AR Systems application class, and select KM Commands > KM Admin > Set Java Home.

The Set Java Home dialog box is displayed.

  1. In the Set Java Home dialog box, enter the path where JDK is installed.
