BMC Installation Utillity installation hangs on an IPv6-enabled Red Hat Enterprise Linux system

If an IPv6-enabled Red Hat Enterprise Linux system has an IPv4 loopback address, the BMC Installation Utillity installation hangs.

Solution

Remove the IPv4 loopback address from the IPv6-enabled Red Hat Enterprise Linux system.

Workaround

If you don not want to remove the IPv4 loopback address from the system, then as a workaround, launch the installation utility from a command line with the following command:

  • setup.sh -host_override hostname

This option allows you to specify the host name or IP address (within double quotes) that you want the installation utility to use on computers with multiple IP addresses. For more details on the -host_override command line option, see Using-the-command-line-options-UNIX.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
