Upgrading

This section describes how to upgrade the BMC PATROL Agent from its previous version.

When deploying a new version of BMC PATROL Agent, no additional steps are required to upgrade. You can install the BMC PATROL Agent as explained in the Installing section.

If you have defined configuration variables on PATROL agents by using a monitoring policy, the configuration variables are retained even after disabling the policy. To delete the configuration variables, you must purge the PATROL Agent by using the following command:

pconfig +PURGE -p <port> -host <hostname>

By using this command, the configuration variable values of the PATROL Agent are restored to the default state, and the PATROL agent does not retain the previous configuration after an upgrade.
