Creating a parameter

Creating a parameter involves defining the collection and monitoring of selected parts of an application class. You add a new parameter to an application class using a PATROL Developer Console.

Tasks for adding a parameter

The following table lists the required and optional actions performed to create a parameter and provides you with reference pages for the tasks on both the Windows and UNIX PATROL Developers Consoles.

Parameter property dialog boxes

When you create a new application class, the properties are defined using the application class dialog boxes in both Windows and UNIX. The following figure shows both the Windows and UNIX application class dialog boxes.

Even though PATROL Console platforms have different interfaces, the properties are the same for both platforms. The parameter class properties grouped and discussed in the following logical groups:

  • General
  • Help
  • Command
  • Environment
  • Security
  • Scheduling
  • Alarm Ranges

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
