User interface requirements


This section presents the following topics:

 Provide KM icons

The KM must provide icons for use in all PATROL Consoles. For more information about PATROL KM icon requirements, see Icons and images.

 Identify warnings and alarms

The KM icons must clearly identify warning and alarm conditions.

You must create two separate icon image files, an OK icon and an OK mask, for a single application class that displays in the PATROL Console for Windows. You must create four separate icon image files, an OK icon, an OK mask, a WARN icon and a WARN mask, for a single application class that displays in the PATROL Console for UNIX ®. The icons are used to indicate the different states that the application class can have.

Note

This requirement only applies to icons used in the PATROL 3. x consoles. The PATROL 7. x console use the same base icon for all states.

 Provide distinguishable error messages

The KM error messages must contain a unique tag that identifies the messages.

This ensures that BMC Customer Support can track and troubleshoot problems related to the KM. For more information about PATROL KM error messages, see Formatting error messages.

 Provide KM tracing or diagnostics

The KM must provide the ability to turn tracing or diagnostics (debugging) on and off.

This ensures that BMC Customer Support can assist a customer in troubleshooting problems related to the KM. For more information about PATROL KM error messages, see Formatting error messages.

 Display KM version in InfoBoxes

The KM must include the KM version number in the top-level InfoBox of each application class.
