Installing BMC Remedy ITSM Suite patch component


Before you install the the BMC Remedy ITSM Suite patch component, please consider the following:

  • Before implementing BMC Intelligent Ticketing 2.0 in the production environment, please verify the patch in your development environment.
  • You must first install the BMC Remedy ITSM Suite patch component and then the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management patch component. 

The following topics provide instructions for installing the BMC Intelligent Ticket 2.0 patch component for BMC Remedy AR System 

To install BMC Remedy ITSM Suite patch component on Windows platform

  1. Login to the AR server as an Administrator. 
  2. Using the command prompt, go to location where you have copied the installation files.
  3. Using the command prompt, go to the <install_dir>\BMC Intelligent Ticketing 2.0 Patch\01_ITSM Patch\Windows folder that contains the installation files. 
  4. Run the setup batch file using the following command:

    setup <Server> <User> <Password> <Port> <Socket>

    • If the password is blank, type ""
    • Server, user and password fields are required.
    • Port number and socket number fields are optional. If you don't have port number and socket number information, leave the fields blank.
  5. To verify if the installation was successful:
    • Refer to the log files in the following location:
      <install_dir>\BMC Intelligent Ticketing 2.0 Patch\01_ITSM Patch\Windows\Logs
    • Verify if the BMC Remedy ITSM Suite patch is registered in SHARE:Application_Properties form.

  6. Proceed with the post-installation tasks.

To install BMC Remedy ITSM Suite patch component on UNIX platform

  1. Login to the AR server as an Administrator. 
  2. Go to the <install_dir>/BMC Intelligent Ticketing 2.0 Patch/01_ITSM Patch/<Platform name> folder that contains the installation files.
    This patch is available for HP-UX, IBM AIX, Solaris, and Linux.
  3. Provide write permissions to the files and folders.
  4.  Run the setup.sh file using the following command:

    ./setup.sh <Server> <User> <Password> <Port> <Socket>

    • If the password is blank, type ""
    • Server, user and password fields are required.
    • Port number and socket number fields are optional. If you don't have port number and socket number information, leave the fields blank.
  5. To verify if the installation was successful:
    • Refer to the log files in the following location:
      <install_dir>/BMC Intelligent Ticketing 2.0 Patch/01_ITSM Patch/<Platform name>/Logs
    • Verify if the BMC Remedy ITSM Suite patch is registered in SHARE:Application_Properties form.

  6. Proceed with the post-installation tasks.

Post-installation tasks

  • After the installation completes successfully, clean the mid-tier plugin cache and the browser cache.
  • If you have overlays on any of the modified objects, you must promote the changes to the overlay. For the list of modified objects, see List of modified objects
  • The new assignment option changes are available in English View only. If you want the new assignment options in other locales, then you need to manually make the changes done in HPD:CFG-Rules form for locale specific views.
