Running an existing automation

When an event or a situation in BMC Helix Service Monitoring console matches the trigger conditions defined in the automation policies in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation, automation actions are displayed against the open events. As a BMC Helix Service Monitoring operator, you can run such automation actions for open events (causal or situational), which execute the remediation actions in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation. If there are no policies for an event, you can raise a request and automation engineers create a policy in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation.

To run automations for services

From the available automations, you can run the automation in any order to perform actions for remediating open events for services and situations. Currently, an operator runs these actions manually in the BMC Helix Service Monitoring console.

  1. In the BMC Helix Service Monitoring console, do the following:
    1. Click the Overview tab, and from the Services widget, click any of the impacted services with open events.
    2. On the individual service page, click Probable Cause or Root Cause Isolation.
  2. From the Causal Nodes (% Probability) or Root Cause Isolation, select a causal node to view the top causal events for that node.
If the causal event matches the conditions defined in an automation policy in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation, one or more relevant automations are displayed.

If an automation action is not available for the selected event, click Request a new automation and perform the steps in To request automation
You can view the status and the details of the currently running policy and any instances that were executed previously in BMC Helix Intelligent Automation.
