Migrating monitor policies

Use the bhompolicymigrator tool to migrate policies to BMC Helix Operations Management. You can migrate policies from the following applications:

• TrueSight Operations Managementto BMC Helix Operations Management
• One tenant of BMC Helix Operations Management to another
• BMC Helix Operations ManagementSaaS to BMC Helix Operations Management on-premises
• BMC Helix Operations Managementon-premises to BMC Helix Operations Management SaaS

Monitoring policies in TrueSight Operations Management are migrated to BMC Helix Operations Management as monitor or alarm policies. The following table displays details about monitoring policies in TrueSight Operations Management and BMC Helix Operations Management:

To migrate policies between BMC Helix Operations Management tenants

To migrate policies within two tenants in BMC Helix Operations Management, export the data from one BMC Helix Operations Management tenant in a file and import it to the second tenant, or use the promote option. Use the export-import method to migrate the following data:

• Monitor, alarm, and blackout policies in BMC Helix Operations Management
• Event policies in BMC Helix Operations Management
• Monitoring groups in BMC Helix Operations Management

To migrate policies with passwords

If the policies that you want to migrate contain passwords, perform one of the following steps for the migration:

• Migrate the policies without the password details and add the password manually in BMC Helix Operations Management after the migration.
• Automatically migrate passwords with policies by performing the following steps:
  • For TrueSight Operations Management to BMC Helix Operations Management migration
    1. Obtain the encryption key for the TrueSight Operations Management and BMC Helix Operations Management tenants.
