Customizing the display of the event list


You can customize the display of the event list on the Events page to suit your event monitoring and management preferences. These settings are individual, user-based preferences and apply to all pages where the Events page is used, like Device Details and Monitor Details.

To customize the display of the event list, perform the following tasks:

  1. On the Monitoring > Events page, click View Event preferences settings_icon.png.
  2. Refer to the following settings and click Save:

General settings

Show confirmation for

  • (Default) To display the confirmation window before running every event operation, select All Event Operations.
  • To display the confirmation window only when you close events, select Close event only.
  • To disable the confirmation window from showing for any operation, select None.

Events Auto Refresh

By default, 2 minutes is selected to automatically refresh the list of events. You can change this setting and choose between a range of 1 and 10 minutes. To disable the automatic refresh, select Off. You can also manually refresh the page at any time, by clicking Refresh Refresh icon.pngon the Events page.

Auto refresh after bulk event operation

By default, 3 seconds is selected to automatically refresh the list of events after an event operation. You can change this setting and choose from the following duration values:

  • 2 seconds
  • 3 seconds
  • 4 seconds
  • 5 seconds
  • 10 seconds

Important:

If you select less than or equal to 3 events for an event operation, the auto refresh duration is 2 seconds.

Scope settings

Maximum number of events to display

By default, 1000 events are displayed. You can change this setting based on your needs. If you find that the number of events exceeds the value selected, review and refine the event filters or search for the event.

Number of events to download initially

Denotes the optimum number of events to download initially to stabilize response time. When you scroll down to view more events, the same number of events are downloaded and added to the events list.

By default, 300 events are downloaded. You can change this setting based on your needs.

Maximum multi-events to perform action on

Denotes the maximum number of events that you can select for performing a common action.

By default, this value is set to 100. You can change this value, based on your needs, up to a maximum of 500.

Row settings

Show internal names of event attributes in tool tips

Select this checkbox to display the internal names of the event attributes in tooltips. Otherwise, display names or labels of event attributes are displayed.

Show severity, priority, and status icons

Select this checkbox to display icons for status, severity, and priority columns. Otherwise, the status, severity, and priority are displayed as text (without icons).

Show row numbers

Select this checkbox to display row numbers sequentially for each event.

Show severity color for

Select one of the following options to set your preferences about items that must be displayed with the severity color:

  • (Default) Icons and text: The color of the icons and text matches the event severity color.
  • Icons only:  The color of the icons matches the event severity color. However, if you disable the icons by clearing the Show severity, priority, and status icons checkbox, no color coding is applied to the rows.
  • Background: The row background color matches the event severity color. If you select this option, the Show check box for event selection checkbox is selected and disabled by default.

Select this checkbox to display a checkbox next to each event (for every row). This setting enables you to select the checkbox for selecting an event instead of clicking the event and selecting it.
