Exporting events


As an administrator, export events and use them in third-party applications for archiving and data mining.

To export events

  1. Navigate to the Monitoring > Events page.
  2. Select the events to export.
  3. Click the action menu of any event and select Export.
  4. In the Export window, select one of the following file formats:
    • .json
    • .baroc
    • .XML
    • .csv
  5. Select one of the following options to export the event slots:
    • All Slots - Exports all the slots for that event
    • Visible Slots - Exports only the visible slots that are displayed on the Events page
  6. (Optional) Select the Export time stamp slots according to the format in user preferences checkbox.
    When exported events are ingested again, the timestamp slots use the current date and time for ingestion. The ingested date and time appear in the format that you configured in your user preferences.
  7. Click Export.
    The number of events that you can export depends on the event limit that you have configured in Event Preferences on the Events page. You can modify the exported content according to your requirements.

    Important

    • If you use the following characters at the beginning of the event slot value, the event slot values are enclosed in single quotation marks (') when you export the event:
      • Equals (=)
      • Plus (+)
      • Minus (-)
      • At (@)
    • Excerpt named Custom_slot_display_export_event was not found in document xwiki:IT-Operations-Management.Operations-Management.BMC-Helix-Operations-Management.bhom251.Monitoring-events-and-reducing-event-noise.Monitoring-and-managing-events.Performing-event-operations.WebHome.

Tip

Select the events and press Ctrl-K to export all the slots in the .baroc format.

To find the event ID for an event, check the identifier parameter value.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
