24.2 enhancements and patches
For a list of recent updates and enhancements across multiple versions, see Release-notes-and-notices.
BMC applies upgrades as described in BMC Helix Upgrade policy. BMC applies upgrades and patches during Maintenance windows.
24.2.02
Mark third-party devices for deletion with the /delete API
Use the /delete API to mark third-party devices for deletion. The devices remain in the Marked for delete state for 7 days, during which time you can restore a device. The devices are deleted from the system after 7 days.
For more information, see Metric-operation-management-endpoints-in-the-REST-API.
24.2.01
Restrict manual event ingestion
Manual event generation and correlation are restricted for specific classes such as Situation, Prediction, and Anomaly for the following features:
- GenerateNewEvent function in advanced enrichment policies
- Correlation policies
This feature helps you to streamline event generation.
For more information, see the following topics:
Close blackout events in BMC Helix Operations Management
Use the update event API or the Events page to update the event status to Closed. Closing these events makes your event list more manageable.
For more information, see the following topics:
Capture impacted service details with new slots in the event class
Capture the impacted service details on the Event details page in BMC Helix Operations Management by using the following new slots in the Event base event class:
- Impacted Service Key
- Impacted Service Name
- Node Impacted Service Key Mapping
For more information, see Event-base-event-class.
Generate anomaly events with a specific severity
Automatically generate anomaly events with a specific severity. This feature gives you the flexibility to control the severity of anomalies and act on the lower-severity anomalies later to focus on higher-priority events.
For more information, see Configuring-autoanomaly-event-generation.
24.2.00
The following video (2:06) provides a high-level summary of the new features and enhancements in version 24.2 of BMC Helix Operations Management.
Configure automatic generation of anomaly events
On the Manage Auto Anomaly Event Generation page, configure the automatic generation of anomaly events when a metric value breaches the baseline and deviation values for a specific duration. You can set up anomaly configurations with fewer configurations.
For more information, see the following topics:
Manage ASCII characters in the event data
In advanced enrichment policies, manage ASCII characters in the event data by using the Char function. Use the output of this function to replace, remove, or append ASCII characters in the event data with other characters and enrich events with more meaningful information.
For more information, see the following topics:
Look up node details according to the node kind
In the service model hierarchy from BMC Discovery, use the LookupNodeDetailsByKind function to look up node details for specific node kinds. Use the node details to enrich events, so that you can pinpoint the correct impact on the service.
For more information, see the following topics:
View detailed time stamps for events
On the Events page, hover over columns that have the DateTime data type to drill down to the time stamp value in seconds and milliseconds. The detailed time stamp helps you easily differentiate the time details between events.
For more information, see Viewing-event-details.
