Turn on automatic maintenance updates

BMC Helix Network Management can be configured to automatically keep itself updated to the latest maintenance release for its minor release version.

To turn on automatic updates follow the steps below.

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Network Management as a user with the SuperAdmin access level.
  2. Go to the main menu and select Administration > System > Updates to open the BMC Helix Network Management Update page.
  3. Set the AUTOMATIC UPDATES switch to ON.

  4. You're done.

BMC Helix Network Management will now check for new maintenance releases early Sunday morning every week and automatically update itself whenever one is available.

Additionally, if any other BMC Helix Network Management appliances are connected to this BMC Helix Network Management appliance (such as service engines, high-availability cluster members or BMC Helix Network Management Overview clients) the update will automatically propagate to those BMC Helix Network Management appliances, as well. Ensuring that all connected BMC Helix Network Management appliances receive the latest fixes and updates.

Keep in mind that major version upgrades and minor version releases still require manual action by a user with SuperAdmin privileges.
