Netreo Update

This page is where your BMC Helix Network Management appliance can be updated to the latest minor and maintenance version releases and upgraded to a newer major version release.

Each time this page is loaded (if your BMC Helix Network Management appliance is connected to the Internet), BMC Helix Network Management checks the BMC Helix Network Management update servers to determine if a newer version is available. Otherwise, it simply displays your current version.

Information on port requirements for accessing the online updates appears at the top of the page.

Offline Update

(Not available for CentOS 6 deployments.)

In certain scenarios, update BMC Helix Network Management manually when automatic updates are not available. Manual updates involve downloading and installing the version-specific offline package. 

For an offline update, perform the following steps: 

  1. Log in to https://sd.netreo.com.
    If you do not have access to the portal, contact BMC Helix Support for assistance in obtaining access.
    After you log in, a list of available software updates for download is displayed.
  2. Click the download icon for the specific version package you require.

    You are prompted to copy the one-time password for the downloaded file.
  3. Click Copy to Clipboard.image-1747380615531.png

    Important

    If you lose the one-time password, download the file again to generate a new password.

  4. Click Close.
    The download starts automatically.
  5. In BMC Helix Network Management, navigate to Administration > System > Updates.
  6.  Click on the Click here link to upload the local package file.
  7. Click Browse and select the .zip package that you downloaded in the earlier step.
  8. In the Secret Key field, paste the copied one-time password.
  9. Click Upload to initiate the update.

Automatic Updates Switch

This switch controls whether BMC Helix Network Management automatically updates itself to the latest maintenance release. See How to Turn On Automatic Updates for BMC Helix Network Management.

Version and Update Status Message

The blue message area displays your current BMC Helix Network Management version and indicates if any updates are available from the BMC Helix Network Management update servers.

If an update is available, the message will ask if you want to proceed with the update. Click the Yes button to update BMC Helix Network Management.
