Installing the predefined telemetry, device, and events dashboards in Grafana

This procedure simplifies the deployment of essential monitoring dashboards, providing insights into telemetry, device status, and events. This procedure also ensures the efficient use of Grafana to visualize key metrics and operational data in the BMC Helix Edge ecosystem.

Before you begin

  • Download the add-on installer package named hedge-addons.tgz from EPDimage-2023-9-4_19-46-55.png.
  • Extract the contents of this package into a designated folder.

To set up the pre-built Telemetry, Device, and Events dashboards in Grafana

  1. On the BMC Helix Edge page, select Dashboard > Dashboard Builder.
  2. In Grafana:
    1. On the top-left corner of the page, click + > Import dashboard.

    2. In the Import dashboard page, browse to the location of extracted JSON files and import the extracted folder for each dashboard:
      • For the telemetry (metering) dashboard, select BMC Helix Edge License Metering-ADE.json.
      • For the device details dashboard, select edge_devices.json.
      • For the event details dashboard, select edge_events.json.
  3. Specify a name for your dashboard, select the target folder, and make sure the data source is set to BMC Helix.
  4. Click Load to import.
    After importing, you can access the selected dashboards in Grafana.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
