BMC Helix Edge - Messaging

per IoT Message

Sent from a device to the service (for example, a sensor sending a temperature reading) or from a service to the device (for example, the service sending a configuration setting to a device).

Each message has a limited size of 100 characters. If an instruction or piece of information is too long to fit in one message, it gets split into multiple messages. The system calculates the size of a message by adding the length of the following:

  • The name of the instruction or information. For example, temperature.
  • The value of that instruction or information. For example, 25 degrees Celsius.
  • The unique identifier of the device sending the message. For example, serial number.
