Setting up and going live

After deploying the BMC Helix Edge platform, you set up user accounts, define device profiles, deploy services, and integrate Machine Learning capabilities. Use the following guidelines to navigate and make sure a successful BMC Helix Edge deployment.

Start BMC Helix Edge

After creating your account, you receive a URL and the credentials to log on to BMC Helix Edge. Click the BMC Helix Edge tile.

Set up user accounts and grant access

Create and manage users in the BMC Helix Portal. Assign user groups to authorization profiles in BMC Helix Edge.

Define device profiles and develop device services

  • Define device profiles to capture necessary data.
  • Develop device services for seamless communication with IoT devices.

Deploy and integrate

  • Deploy device services on edge nodes.
  • Connect and add devices to the BMC Helix Edge environment.
  • Integrate contextual data sources from third-party systems.

Verify and test

  • Verify data collection by using out-of-the-box dashboards.
  • Design and implement situations for detection.
  • Implement rules, raise events, and build workflows.

Integrate Machine Learning 

  • Train and deploy ML models to detect anomalies.
  • Configure events and workflows as needed.

Configure dashboard

  • Design and implement dashboard visualizations for effective monitoring.
  • Create dashboards and use the features of BMC Helix Dashboards. 
  • Install the predefined telemetry, device, and events dashboards in Grafana.
